We are happy to announce a day of conversations, readings, workshops and performances to mark the life and work of the British Nigerian writer, Buchi Emecheta.
The event will take place at the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre at SOAS, University of London on Saturday 3rd February, from 9.30am to 8.00pm.
Join the all-day celebration of the life and work of the acclaimed Nigerian novelist Buchi Emecheta, who passed away in January 2017. As a novelist and story teller Buchi Emecheta touched the lives of many people, and continues to inspire a new generation through the example she set as an immigrant, single mother of five children who rose to became an international literary figure.
This anniversary event of Buchi Emecheta’s life will include panel discussions, cultural tributes, drama, dancing and songs – and of course Nigerian food.
A presentation of the Buchi Emecheta Foundation (BEF) and the official launch of the exciting new edition of Emecheta’s books will take place on the same day.
