The Journal of Romance Studies Annual Symposium: ‘Romance Languages in a Global Context’
on
Wednesday 26th June 2019, at 14:00-18:30
Senate House, London
The Journal of Romance Studies annual symposium celebrates excellence in modern languages research with a specific focus on the romance languages. Co-ordinated by the editors of the IMLR’s in-house journal published by LUP, the symposium presents cutting-edge research from researchers in Romance Studies and Modern Languages from across the UK and beyond.
The keynote speaker, Ruth Bush (University of Bristol), revisits the archives of two translators who worked extensively on ‘classic’ texts of francophone African literature – John Reed and Dorothy Blair – in order to consider contemporary translation imperatives in multilingual Senegal and Cameroon.
