Joyful Noise presents:
Funmi Olawumi
Friday 10 April, 7pm
Union Chapel, London
Price: £17 / £15 concessions
Nigerian singer Funmi Olawumi, the leader and founder of the Yoruba Women Choir, performs an intimate show with her band as she premiers songs from her soon to be released CD Yoruba Soul, which takes off from the success of her current CD Funmi Ti De (Joyful Noise Records). The new recording Yoruba Soul brings together all the glories elements of Nigerian rhythms of afrobeat, hi-life, juju and fuji into one infectious naija rhythm.
Expect hypnotic dance rhythms that Olawumi calls “faaji rhythms” – “faaji” meaning “goodtime” in Yoruba. She is backed by a ten-piece band featuring the 4 Souls – vocalists and dancers that bring high energy dance routines to the show.
Check out 15 glorious minutes of Funmi Olawumi on YouTube here!
Tickets for Friday are available from the Union Chapel website.
