We are delighted to share that The Nigeria Prize for Literature is calling for entries for an edition in prose fiction and for an edition in literary criticism this year.
The prize usually rotates among four literary genres – prose fiction, poetry, drama, and children’s literature. This year the organisers have included a new category for literary criticism and, as such, there will be two editions of the prize in 2020.
The Nigeria Prize for Literature is a yearly prize endowed by Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Limited to honour Nigerian authors of great works.

Prose Fiction
The competition is open to Nigerian writers irrespective of their place of residence.
Twelve copies of the entry and, if available, an e-copy may be submitted in accordance with the genres in competition.
All applicants must submit their entries accompanied by an application form obtainable on the NLNG website.
All entries must be submitted by 31 March. Late entries will not be considered.
Please see a full list of requirements here.
Literary Criticism
Since the aim is to promote Nigerian Literature in the world, the prize will be open to literary critics in and outside Nigeria. Critical essays on new writings in Nigerian Literature are welcomed.
Contestants can send up to three critical essays published in scholarly journals for consideration.
Again, all entries must be submitted by 31 March. Late entries will not be considered.
Please follow this link for further information on how to submit your work.
The winners will be announced in October 2020.
