28th ASAUK Biennial Conference

8 – 10 September, 2020
We are delighted to share that the call for papers and panels within the ASAUK thematic streams is open. There are 43 thematic streams on a range of topics that will surely attract interest from a broad range of stakeholders and delegates. The ASAUK 2020 conference will celebrate the diversity and interdisciplinarity of the study of Africa.
This conference provides a unique opportunity to connect with hundreds of Africanists, academics with a particular interest in the continent, development specialists, policy makers and others. The organisers are committed to engaging with participants through an energising and informative programme and facilitating networking opportunities
Registration for the ASAUK 2020 conference will be open in February and close on Friday 31 July 2020.

Call for papers & proposals
Colleagues are invited to propose papers and additional panels to the 43 selected thematic streams (details of these streams can be found via this link). Please note that there are no open streams for this conference.
For the purposes of programming, you can propose ONE paper or panel proposal submission per person. In addition, you can propose a Roundtable and/or book launch for the conference.
The draft conference programme will be published at the beginning of June 2020.
Registration will open in February. More information about letters of acceptance and/or letters of invitation for visa applications will be available in February in our guide to planning your attendance at the conference. Please refer to the ASAUK website for information about letters in support of visa applications.
Deadlines and Submission Process
The deadline for submission to the conference programme (organised sessions, book launch requests and roundtable meetings) is Sunday 22 March 2020.
