A CINEMA FOR BOBO-DIOULASSO
Despite strong demand from the Bobolese community, access to an adapted and accessible cinematographic experience is lacking today in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso’s second largest city.
Given this situation, in 2013 a film support association in Burkina Faso (ASCBF) launched the rehabilitation of the former Cine Guimbi. With the money raise the goal is to open a mini-plex with two rooms, a coffee shop, a multipurpose room, a resource center and offices.
More than just a cinema, with a varied daily program, Ciné Guimbi also wants to be a place of welcome, exchange, debate and action.
It will host an image education program dedicated to young people, schoolchildren and the general public.
THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT
Jean-Marc Lalo, Ciné Guimbi’s architect, tells the story of the project here!
Guimbi rehabilitation project is engaged in a civic and environmental approach. Erected with local resources, craftsmen and entrepreneurs, the Guimbi is an ecological model, in its construction and operation, with its green roof and solar equipment.
