Event: Focus Africa Music Festival 2018 (2nd June, London)

Focus Africa Music Festival 2018

Rich Mix, Main Space
Bethnal Green, London

Saturday 2nd June

After selling out last year, Focus Africa Music Festival is back to offer something totally different.

Focus Africa Music Festival is one of the newest festivals in the heart of London. The 2018 festival will be headlined by the talented Farai & The Forest Dawn (UK/Zimbabwe) playing some world class Afro-Soul, Rock and Roll, supported by the Kora virtuoso Boubacar Kafando & Zaama Nooma Band.

The idea this year is to travel musically from Zimbabwe to Burkina Faso via the UK.

The party will end with DJ Silvaa King with the best of Afrobeats and all the party anthems.

Farai & The Forest Dawn (UK/Zimbabwe)
Meet Farai & the Forest Dawn, the exciting “Afro-Soul, Rock and Roll” five piece currently making waves in the London music scene. Known by fans as FFD, the band play regular shows in and out of London, recently making their Northern debut performing at the Great Bridlington Seafood Festival. The band are working on the Come Up Season Performance (CUSP) concerts. Organised “by artists, for artists” to be held at O2 venues across the country, as well as releasing more music.

Boubacar Kafando & Zaama Nooma Band – Kora master
Lead by Boubacar – a talented Kora player percussionist, singer songwriter and composer from the Mossi’s ethnic group in Burkina Faso who has lived in Paris since 2003. Before Zaama Nooma Band, Boubacar played in mandingo orchestras such as Bankadi live, Faso Music and the Djamakunu orchestra. Boubacar founded the cultural centre ‘Zounoogo’ in Sapone-Marche, Burkina Faso in 2009. Since 2010, Boubacar has pushed his music forward into unique fusion with his new five/eight-piece band named after his non profit organisation (2007) Zaama Nooma band (meaning bringing people together). He delivers an excellent blend of Burkina traditional music with jazz, funk, rock, blues and Afrobeat with lyrics in which harmony and hope are the general sentiments.

DJ Silvaa King
DJ Silvaa King is a prominent Zimbabwean DJ based in Northampton who specialises in AfroBeats and rich Southern African sounds.
