Event: ‘Deep End’, Somerset House, London (02 August)

‘Deep End’
Somerset House Studios, Lancaster Rooms
London
Friday 02 August
1930-2300

Deep End is an evening of poetry, performances and live music exploring Black diasporic identity.

Deep end describes a body of water where the depth is greatest. It can also speak of emotional depth or the fluidity of water that represents movement and migration, change and the passage of time.

This event showcases the multimedia project POOL, conceived by Somerset House Studios Resident Nadeem Din-Gabisi, examining the mental health issues of many young Black men, born in inner and outer London. Questioning why some sink, why some swim and why others don’t enter the POOL. Nadeem will be performing with Coby Sey, Momoko Watanabe Gill, Clara Sinephro and artist Kobby Adi.

Zimbabwean-born London-based writer & educator Belinda Zhawi will be performing her poetry alongside South-London poet and DJ James Massiah. Master producer and sound curator Lord Tusk closes the night with a DJ set.

Please note this is an 18+ event.
